Where is Phoenix Athletic Center?
PAC is located on the campus of Arizona Lutheran Academy, 6036 S. 27th Avenue, Phoenix, Az 85041. ALA is on the south west corner of 27th Avenue and Southern. The facility is west of the gymnasium and is the metal building closest to the football field. Look for the building labeled DEN.
What classes do you offer?
PAC offers classes in gymnastics, cheer, and wrestling. PAC is now the permanent home of Laveen Gymnastics and Laveen Wrestling Club.
Can my child try a free practice?
Absolutely! All of PAC's programs offer your first practice for free. We encourage parents to schedule a free trial class for their child prior to enrolling. We want you and your child to know you like the class before completing registration. All free trials must be scheduled in advance. Staff can not accommodate drop ins. If you like the class your free trial is rolled into the first month's tuition. If you decide the class is not for you you are not charged.
Gymnastics & Tumbling:
What is the student to coach ratio?
The student to coach ratio is 6:1. If the class has 7 or 8 participants an assistant coach will join the class. If the class has 12 participants another coach will be added.
Who will be coaching PAC's Gymnastics, Tumbling, and Cheer classes?
All PAC Gymnastics, Cheer and Tumbling classes are coached by former gymnasts with at least 2 years experience coaching. These gymnasts have trained, competed and coached prior to being hired by PAC.
What should my child wear?
Girls should wear either leotards or dance gear. No baggy or lose fitting clothing. Tights may be worn, but must not have feet. Boys should wear shorts and a T-shirt. No shoes are allowed on the mats or equipment for gymnastics practices.
My child missed class. Can I get a refund?
No. As per PAC's policy, no refunds are given for classes missed, nor will tuition be pro-rated to accommodate absences. Make-up classes may be attended if there is room in another class. All make-up classes must be scheduled in advance through the PAC manager.
Wrestling:
What is a USAW card and why does my wrestler need one?
USA Wrestling is the organization Laveen Wrestling Club is chartered under. USAW cards provide insurance coverage for wrestlers participating in the sport. Additionally, most tournaments held in the Phoenix Metro area are USAW sanctioned tournaments. In order to compete at any of them a wrestler must hold a current USAW card.
How do I get a USAW card?
Visit www.themat.com, go to 'Athlete Membership'. Pay the $15 limited Folk Style or $45 annual card fee, then print out your card. A copy must be uploaded to the LWC's online account set up for your wrestler at the time of registration. Directions on how to upload the USAW card to your account are included the emailed registration receipt. You may also bring a hard copy to practice to turn in to your child's coach. If your child will be wrestling year long we strongly recommend purchasing the $45 USAW card. It's good from August 31st to August 31st.
What gear does my child need in order to participate?
Every child must wear wrestling shoes to practice. No socks, bare feet or street shoes are allowed on the mats. LWC runs a used shoe program. Contact Veronica at laveenwrestling@gmail.com with your child's name and shoe size. If the club has the size needed Veronica will reserve a pair of shoes for your child. They can be picked up at the first practice and used until the child outgrows them or stops wrestling with the club.
If you child plans on competing he/she will need a singlet. Singlets can be ordered on the website store. If you aren't sure your wrestler is going to compete and want to try a competition before purchasing a singlet the club does loan singlets to wrestlers. However, sizes and quantity are severely limited this year.
Headgear is not required wear at practice. Headgear is only required for some middle school tournaments and most high school tournaments. Younger wrestlers may wear head gear in practice if they want to.
Mouth guards are required for any child wearing braces.
Every wrestler receives a free practice T with every paid registration (while supplies last). The coaches like all wrestlers to be dressed alike. If you need to purchase extra practice T's you may do so in the online store. Prices of T's have been kept purposefully low so families can purchase multiples.
Athletic shorts are recommended for practices. Please no shorts longer than knee length.

Laveen Wrestling club has dedicated volunteer coaches and staff, who strive to keep overhead and operation costs low. LWC would rather have low registration costs and more wrestlers at tournaments on Saturdays, than high registration costs and families who can't afford to have their wrestler(s) compete.
Is my child expected to compete?
Yes. LWC coaches expect every child to compete in at least one tournament a semester. For beginners, this may only be the Beginners Tournament hosted by LWC in October. Coaches encourage wrestlers to compete at least twice a semester, with the expectation being that the more advanced the wrestler, the more tournaments attended.
When are tournaments held?
Tournaments are held almost every Saturday, from October to mid-May. To see the tournament schedule join the Team App. Directions on how to join are on the website under the 'Team App' tab.
What style wrestling does the club practice?
LWC practices Folk Style wrestling in the fall, with Greco practice on Wednesdays for Intermediate and Advanced wrestlers, and Free Style in the spring.
Do you clean your mats?
LWC does clean all mats using KenClean Plus, a hospital grade athletic surface disinfectant.
I've registered my child. Now what?
Please join LWC's team app. Directions on how to join can be found on the 'Team App' tab on this website. The team app has current tournament and practice schedules, as well as club news, pictures of Wrestlers of the Week, and more. If practice is ever cancelled unexpectedly, or a tournament venue changed, a notification will be sent via TeamApp. Laveen Wrestling's Facebook page is another way LWC's director and coaches stay in touch with club members.
My child has decided not to continue wrestling. Can I get a refund?
No refunds are given. It is strongly suggested that if you are unsure your child will continue with the sport you try a free practice before enrolling. Cancellation of a credit card in order to avoid payment will result in a ban being placed on all future classes until the balance due is paid.

I signed up for auto billing using my credit card. How do I cancel it?
No refunds are given for wrestling registrations. If you registered for a gymnastics class and no longer want to be billed, club director Veronica Wene must be notified by text, phone call or email 10 days before billing for the next cycle begins. If you choose to contact Veronica through email or text you must receive a response within 24 hours that the cancellation notice was received. If you don't receive a response, Veronica didn't receive your communication. Failure to notify Veronica will result in the next payment being charged to your card.
Do you offer scholarships?
PAC does offer partial scholarships for those participating in Laveen Wrestlingwho demonstrate a clear need. Scholarship availability is dependent upon funds available to be disbursed.
